Dragons, Dinos, Turtles & Big Tex

We had our annual State Fair of Texas visit this year with a smaller crew. It was just Honey, Bubba, Bobby and myself dodging the crowds, standing in line at the Fletcher's stand and drooling over all the goodies.

Before we arrived, Bobby announced he hoped to see Dragons at the fair. Little did we know, he would see several dragons! The Chinese Lantern Festival is a special exhibition inside the fair grounds this year. It surrounds the Fair Park lagoon. During the day it was neat, but you can imagine how beautiful it is at night. Google the images and they are breathtaking! It is pricey to go inside, but we felt like it was totally worth it. Bobby loved it!

His first dragon encounter: a Chinese dragon made of plates, bowls & spoons!
Four more dragons made of tiny medicine bottles filled with colored liquid!

And of course my kid freaked out! Dinosaurs!

Next stop (after our obligatory stop at a Fletcher's stand) the petting zoo! Bobby wished he could pounce on that turtle, hold it by the tail and yell, "Ye ye ye ye ye!"
Minutes after arriving, we excitedly pointed out Big Tex to Bobby. Big mistake. The previous two years, he had been completely uninterested in Big Tex. This year, he wanted to make sure we stayed as far away from him as possible. Big Texas (as Bobby called him) was absolutely terrifying to this little boy.
After the petting zoo, the bird show, the green house, and several treats, this boy was out!
We shopped a little while he was napping, but everyone got pretty worn out by 4:00. On our way out, Bobby remembered the fishing tent we saw when we first arrived. His little fishing expedition with daddy has certainly created a love for fishing! Look at the big one he caught!
 So excited!
